OFM Best in Bloem for 10 years running
Winning the Best of Bloemfontein in the Bloemfontein Courant’s Reader’s Choice Awards 2022 for Best Local Radio Station, Best Local Radio Show and Best Local Radio Personality, OFM has once again shown that, in the words of presenter Yolanda Maartens, the radio station goes with the people of Bloemfontein “in their cars, at their desks at work, to sing along to in their showers, to spread joy when someone is sad, to bring memories back and to create new ones”.
Mid-Morning Magic, weekdays from 09:00 to 12:00, walked away with the Best Local Radio Show award. The show is hosted by Maartens, who also won the Best Local Radio Personality award.
“I feel incredibly humbled to have won two Best of Bloemfontein categories this year. With it being my tenth year in commercial radio and also the tenth year of the awards, it makes it even more special to be recognised by readers and listeners across Bloemfontein,” says Maartens-Brown.
She explains her show is really focused on the listener.
“I want them to have a good time with me during my three hours in studio. I want my show to be a place where they can get expert insight into things that are important to them: their families, music, lifestyle and their workspace. I don’t take a minute behind the microphone for granted as I feel I have a responsibility towards my audience to be sincere, to be kind and to be myself.”
Maartens further adds that OFM is also the “Sound of My Life and I really enjoy what I do”.
“There is music for every moment, and I’m blessed to make moments for listeners in Bloemfontein and across Central SA. Thank you to each person who voted,” she concludes.

Thabethe adds that to be awarded Best Local Radio Station for the tenth year running, on the tenth anniversary of the Best of Bloemfontein Awards, “carries no higher honour. It’s a great feeling when your community acknowledges your effort.”

OFM Beste in Bloem vir 10de jaar agtereenvolgens
Met die toekenning van die Best of Bloemfontein in Bloemfontein Courant se Reader’s Choice-toekennings 2022 vir die beste plaaslike radiostasie, die beste plaaslike radioprogram en die beste plaaslike radiopersoonlikheid, het OFM weer eens bewys dat, in die woorde van aanbieder Yolanda Maartens, die radiostasie die mense van Bloemfontein vergesel “in hul motors, by hul lessenaars by die werk, wanneer hulle saamsing in die stort, om aan mense vreugde te bring wanneer iemand hartseer is, om herinneringe op te roep en om nuwes te skep”.
Mid-Morning Magic, weeksdae van 09:00 tot 12:00, het met die Beste Plaaslike Radioprogram-toekenning weggestap. Die program word aangebied deur Maartens, wat ook die toekenning vir die beste plaaslike radiopersoonlikheid gewen het.
“Ek voel ongelooflik nederig omdat ek vanjaar twee Best of Bloemfontein-kategorieë gewen het. Aangesien dit my tiende jaar in kommersiële radio is en dit ook die tiende jaar van die toekennings is, is dit nog meer spesiaal om deur lesers en luisteraars regoor Bloemfontein erken te word,” vertel Maartens.
Sy voeg by dat haar program regtig op die luisteraar gefokus is.
“Ek wil hê dat hulle lekker saam met my moet kuier gedurende my drie ure in die ateljee. Ek wil hê dit moet ’n plek wees waar luisteraars kundige raad kan kry oor dinge wat vir hulle belangrik is: hul gesinne, musiek, leefstyl en hul werk. Ek aanvaar nie ‘n minuut agter die mikrofoon as vanselfsprekend nie, want ek voel ek het ‘n verantwoordelikheid teenoor my gehoor om opreg te wees, vriendelik te wees en myself te wees.”
Maartens noem ook OFM is “die Klank Van My Lewe en ek geniet wat ek doen baie”.
“Daar is musiek vir elke oomblik, en ek is geseënd om oomblikke vir luisteraars in Bloemfontein en regoor Sentraal-SA te maak. Dankie aan elke persoon wat gestem het,” sluit sy af.
OFM se programbestuurder Tim Thabethe sê OFM is verheug dat Mid-Morning Magic erkenning ontvang het as die program wat mense se lewens verryk en dat die program so geniet word om vir die harde werk wat dit verg, beloon te word.
“Yolanda is ‘n ongelooflike aanbieder. Haar persoonlikheid vind aanklank by die OFM-gehoor. Die feit dat sy twee toekennings gewen het, bewys die waarde wat Yolanda toevoeg.”
Thabethe voeg by dat om vir die tiende jaar agtereenvolgens aangewys te word as Beste Plaaslike Radiostasie, op die tiende herdenking van die Best of Bloemfontein-toekennings, “is ’n nóg groter eer. Dit is ’n wonderlike gevoel wanneer jou gemeenskap jou pogings erken.”
