OFM Agricultural Journalist

Are you a passionate agricultural writer, driven to quickly and accurately deliver must-know news to the agricultural community? OFM needs an experienced journalist who excels at creating multimedia content to join our news team in Bloemfontein. As an agricultural journalist, you will be responsible for creating content for our agricultural program, news bulletins, and digital platforms. OFM Agri provides industry-focused news with a focus on the Free State, North West, and Northern Cape. This is an office-based position, and travel is required.

Ideal candidates for the agricultural journalist position at OFM should possess the following:

Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree or diploma in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Experience as a journalist, preferably in agricultural or business-related reporting.
• Proven ability to create multimedia content (audio, video, and digital media).
• Exceptional writing and communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
• Strong news judgement and the ability to communicate complex agricultural topics clearly and accurately.
• Strong research skills to identify and develop current and relevant news stories.

Personal Attributes:

• A passion for agriculture and the ability to understand and serve the interests of agricultural communities.
• Self-driven and capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage with sources and team members.

Practical Requirements:

• Willingness to travel within the Free State, North West, and Northern Cape, as well as nationally when required.
• Availability to work full-time and be office-based in Bloemfontein.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable personal transport.

Advantageous Attributes:

• Previous experience in broadcast journalism or radio production.
• Knowledge of agricultural issues and communities, both locally and internationally.
• A network of contacts within the agricultural sector.

OFM benodig ’n ervare joernalis wat ’n voorslag is met die skep van multimedia-inhoud om by ons nuusspan in Bloemfontein aan te sluit. As landboujoernalis sal jy verantwoordelik wees vir die skep van inhoud vir gebruik in ons landbouprogram, nuusbulletins en digitale platforms. Kwalifikasies en Ervaring:

• ’n Graad of diploma in joernalistiek, kommunikasie, of ’n verwante veld.
• Ervaring as ’n joernalis, verkieslik in landbou- of besigheidsgerigte verslaggewing.
• Bewese vaardigheid in die skep van multimedia-inhoud (klank, video en digitale media).
• Uitsonderlike skryf- en kommunikasievermoë in Afrikaans en Engels.
• Sterk nuusinsig en die vermoë om komplekse landbou-onderwerpe duidelik en akkuraat te kommunikeer.
• Goeie navorsingsvermoë om aktuele en relevante nuusstories te identifiseer en te ontwikkel.

Persoonlike Eienskappe:

• ’n Passie vir landbou en die vermoë om landbougemeenskappe se belange te verstaan en te dien.
• Selfgedrewe en in staat om onder druk te werk en spertye te haal.
• Uitstekende aandag aan detail en die vermoë om akkuraat te werk.
• Sterk interpersoonlike vaardighede om met bronne en spanlede te skakel.

Praktiese Vereistes:

• Bereidheid om te reis binne die Vrystaat, Noordwes en Noord-Kaap, asook nasionaal waar nodig.
• Beskikbaarheid om voltyds kantoor-gebaseerd in Bloemfontein te werk.
• Geldige rybewys en betroubare eie vervoer.

Voordelige Eienskappe:

• Vorige ervaring in uitsaaijoernalistiek of radioproduksie.
• Kennis van landboukwessies en -gemeenskappe, plaaslik en internasionaal.
• ’n Netwerk van kontakte binne die landbousektor.
